Long Story Short

How many can be proud of a history of more than 60 years, 18 schools spread across the world, two nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize and having had Nelson Mandela or King Charles III as President?

The United World Colleges – also known by the acronym UWC – began in 1962. The Cold War was going on and German educator Kurt Hahn, one of the founders of the UWC movement, believed that if people from different cultures were educated together, it would be possible to create more empathy and avoid conflicts.

Since then, many have joined the UWC. Students, teachers, alumni, philanthropists or simply enthusiasts are part of this movement that believes that education is strength and peace is possible.

A long story, now told in a few minutes.
