Ricardo Gonçalves
Film & TV Director
With a background in audiovisual techniques and over 20 years of experience, director Ricardo Gonçalves leads the audiovisual department at WL Partners Innovation. With versatile skills, his work reflects a great sensitivity in capturing people and telling stories.
Recently, he has directed videos for United World Colleges, the documentary series “Marcas com História” (CNN Portugal), and a 13 – episode documentary series on “Reservas da Biosfera Portuguesa” (RTP). He also directed Altice Portugal advertising to promote 5G and took on the direction of several films for the digital launch campaign of CNN Portugal. Notable achievements include directing the Eurovision 2018 Postcards (RTP1), one of the most-watched television events globally.
In 2019, with “Atel ier d’ Arquitetura” (RTP2), a series of 26 documentaries dedicated to Portuguese contemporary architecture and design, the director brought together various perspectives – from Nadir Afonso to Siza Vieira, Souto de Moura, and the Aires Mateus brothers.
Ri cardo Gonçalves was also part of the team behind the documentary series “Príncipes do Nada” (RTP1), focused on the theme of refugees. In the entertainment realm, he contributed to various projects.
During his years in Luanda (Angola), where he worked exte nsively, he was involved in creating tv shows for Channel 1 and Channel 2 of TPA (Televisão Pública de Angola). He also developed the documentary series “Caminhos para a Paz,” a Globo/TPA production about the Angolan civil war.
Ricardo has training in ci nematography and art direction, with a background that includes time at the advertising agency Grey.
Sara Gomes
Production and Content Director
Sara Gomes is one of the key figures in the audiovisual department at WL Partners Innovation. Passionate about storytelling, she has been directing the production and content of various projects
With a degree in Communication Sciences, she has specialize d in content production for television, radio, press, and online projects for over 20 years, both in Portugal and abroad. In 2010, she joined the BBC World Service in London, developing content for the BBC’s Portuguese website for Africa. During that time, she was also correspondent in London for the weekly portuguese newspaper Expresso. Desenvolveu ainda conteúdos para o site português da BBC para África e foi correspondente do semanário Expresso em Londres.
More recently, she played a role in the launch of CNN Portugal and directed the content and production of the series “Reservas da Biosfera Portuguesas” (RTP) and “Marcas c om História” (CNN Portugal).
Sara also has extensive experience in researching and producing content for television documentary series, such as “Planeta A,” a project by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation on sustainability, and “Príncipes do Nada,” present ed by UNFPA Ambassador Catarina Furtado, focusing on the work of various NGOs worldwide. She also worked on “Dar Vida Sem Morrer,” a documentary on maternal and infant mortality filmed in Guinea – Bissau (RTP1).
In cinema, she directed the content of “Tony”, the most-watched Portuguese documentary ever in national theaters.
She is currently developing a fiction series about Cape Verdean immigration to Portugal in the 70s/80s, recognized in a competition by the ICA (Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual).
Mário Tojo
Photography Director
Director of photography at WL Partners Innovation, Mário Tojo has been involved in the production company’s most varied projects, following their conception and realization from the beginning. This is the case of the docum entary series “Biosphere Reserves” or “Brands with History”.
Known for enjoying being on the ground and also for his easy contact with people, he has been involved in more than 30 television projects. With a degree in multimedia and audiovisual design, he began his career as an image reporter at Information on the television station SIC.
Over nearly two decades, Mario has traveled across Portugal and the world with his camera, filming in Europe, the United States, Israel, Japan, Russia, Morocco, and Tunisia. Além de Portugal, Mário Tojo já filmou um pouco por toda a Europa e também nos Estados Unidos da América, Israel, Japão, Rússia, Marrocos e Tunísia.
Some notable projects from his extensive portfolio include the Eurovision 2018 Postcards, “7 Maravilhas de Portugal” (RTP1), “Imagens de Marca” (SIC Notícias), “Fabrico Internacional” (RTP1), “Atelier d’ Arquitetura” (RTP2), “Volante TV” (SIC Notícias), and “Som de Cristal” (SIC). He has also captured images for various programs on Channel 2 of TPA (Televisão Pública de Angola).
Renato Silva
Video Post - Production Coordinator
As the editing coordinator at WLP Innovation, Renato Silva has a vast professional career in the area of video editing/post – production, standing out for his talent in creating visual narratives where sound and music play significant roles.
After obtaining his degree in Audiovisuals and Multimedia at ULHT, Renato has been involved in dozens of projects over the past 20 years, ranging from fiction to TV magazines, reports, and documentaries.
Recently, he handled the video post – production for the documentar y series “Marcas com História” (CNN Portugal) and the documentary on the Neves – Corvo mine in Portugal. Notable projects include editing the series “Planeta A” (RTP1/Gulbenkian), the TV show “Tabu” (SIC), and “Fábrica dos Sonhos,” the Amazon Prime series ab out the training of young players at Sport Lisboa e Benfica.
Other television projects he has worked on include “O Último a Sair” (RTP1), “Som de Cristal” (SIC), “Fabrico Nacional” (RTP1), and the Eurovision 2018 Postcards (RTP1).
In cinema, he contribute d to documentaries like “Anselmo Ralph – Vontade de Vencer” and “Tony,” both among the most – watched by the Portuguese audience.
Rita Palma Borges
Producer
As a producer at WLP Innovation, Rita is a versatile creative who values organization. She performs various functions in the Production department, from planning to project management.
Rita collaborated on the launch of CNN Portugal and in the production of documentary series “Reservas da Biosfera Portuguesa” (RTP) and “Marcas com História” (CNN Portugal).
With a degree in Journalism from ESCS, she began her professional journey in Television Production.
Throughout her career, Rita worked on the coverage of the 2015 Presidential Elections, serving as Press Advisor for an independent presidential candidate. This experience allowed her to manage stressful environments and develop communication skills.
She also has experience in Internal Communication and Project Management, developing communication strategies for international technology shows in the broadcast, technology, and entertainment field, such as IBC in Amsterdam and NAB Show in Las Vegas.
Joana Esteves
Content Producer
With a degree in Social and Cultural Communication, Joana Esteves works as a content producer at WLP Innovation. Always looking for a great story and the best way to tell it, she joined the team to fulfill that purpose. She loves brainstorming, talking, writing and making things happen.
After graduating in 2016, Joana moved to London to study TV production. Back to Portugal, she started working in production, but shortly after she realized that creating content was her passion.
In recent years, she has been involved in the content production of projects for the main national channels, including: “Planet A”, a documentary series about sustainability, co-produced by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (RTP1); “Did You Get The Message?”, an entertainment programme (SIC) and “Goucha”, a daytime talk show (TVI).
